Dr. Prakash’s Farm
The intervention for Dr. Prakash’s Farm is a study in how parametric design can breathe new life into traditional rural typologies. Focusing on the entrance experience and the Gaushala, the project utilizes a “curved envelope” and the structural efficiency of the Catalan vault to redefine the vernacular aesthetic. By employing ferrocement to create a series of fluid, parametric shells, the architecture moves away from rigid agricultural sheds toward a more rhythmic and organic form. The entrance acts as a threshold between the outside world and the farm’s interior, where the sweeping arch provides a sense of arrival that is both monumental and grounded in the earth.
Within the Gaushala, the design celebrates the honest materiality of exposed brickwork and vaulted ceilings, creating a dignified space for livestock that prioritizes thermal comfort and natural ventilation. The interplay of the ferrocement shell with traditional masonry creates a visual narrative of “The Curved Envelope,” where the structural form provides a protective, light-filled sanctuary. Every sketch and render in the evolution of this project was a search for a design language that feels both experimental and ancient. It is a project where high-tech modeling meets the tactile reality of earthen architecture, proving that even a functional farm building can become a piece of poetic, structural art.
