Tree House
Nestled within two acres of pristine forest landscape, the Malampuzha Residence is envisioned as a contemporary retreat that exists in harmony with nature. Designed by ant studio, the residence responds sensitively to its surroundings, capturing panoramic views of the hills and lake that envelop the site on three sides.
Dubbed the “Tree House,” the design is elevated with a minimal ground footprint and a reduced column layout, allowing the natural terrain and ecosystem to remain largely undisturbed while also protecting the living spaces from wildlife movement across the forest floor. The fan-shaped plan radiates outward to frame uninterrupted 360-degree views, creating a seamless relationship between the indoors and the surrounding landscape.
Natural light, cross ventilation, and openness form the core of the spatial experience. Large openings and shaded verandahs encourage passive cooling and constant visual connection with the outdoors. The material palette draws from the vernacular character of the region, combining terracotta-tiled roofs, warm wooden facades, cement flooring, and handcrafted cane furniture within an elegant open-plan layout.
