Gulmohar Apartment
The Gulmohar Park residence began as a styling project and gradually evolved in scope as the design journey unfolded. Based in Delhi, the clients approached us with a desire to move beyond conventional design approaches and create a home that felt distinct and deeply personal. They envisioned a space rooted in a neoclassical language, one that felt light, airy, and refined, while still carrying a contemporary sensibility.
Alongside the neoclassical aesthetic, the idea of rooted geometry became central to shaping the spatial language, bringing clarity, rhythm, and freshness to the interiors. The home was designed to accommodate the clients’ lifestyle seamlessly, balancing the need to host business guests with the warmth and comfort of a child-friendly environment for their infant. Subtle references to their North-Eastern origins were thoughtfully woven into the design, allowing the space to feel sophisticated yet deeply grounded and homely.
The clients’ affinity for nature and openness inspired us to celebrate the expansive green views surrounding the residence. Rather than obstructing the landscape, we sought to frame and complement it through delicate metal ornamentation and climbing plants that softened the edges of the balconies. Each balcony was envisioned in response to the adjoining room and its intended atmosphere. The master bedroom balcony was designed with plants chosen for their calming visual, tactile, and olfactory qualities, creating a restorative retreat. The balcony adjoining the temple incorporated Tulsi, Mogra, Laxmi Kamal, and other sacred plantings, enriching the space with a quiet sense of serenity and devotion.
Together, these elements shaped a home that feels timeless in character, intimate in experience, and deeply connected to its inhabitants.
