WINDWAVE
Concept for a Interactive Building Skin
The building skin is imagined as an interface between the built environment and the universe, an interactive canvas which can be morphed and played by the forces in nature. The user can become part of the play or be a spectator.
Building Skin, that can reconfigure itself to adapt to the natural forces – light, wind and rain and generate rhythmic patterns in light and sound, capturing light and shadows through motion in the wings. Perforations in the panels allow air and light into the interior spaces even when closed. The panels create a dynamic facade. The skin is a non-automated and self-contained system that houses simple systems based on wheels for actuation.
